The Dow Chemical Company is looking for a Product Manager.


Job Description

Responsible for leading the marketing strategy for the herbicide and fumigant portfolio in Southern Africa depending on the investment cycle of the molecule and to ensure the team delivers on their financial targets by working closely with the Country leader and the Territory Marketing Director.
The strategy must be aligned with the Country/Crop and business unit strategies, for the Territory and ensures implementation.
Ensure that the sales and marketing support organization (Sales team, R&D team, Regulatory team and, Customer Services) is set up for success through network collaboration.
Lead the marketing dimensions. (4P)` Create & deliver the aligned portfolio & country territory assigned Manage Existing Cases, MEB, Create Product Success, CPS and Case Build, CB product portfolio in coordination with the Portfolio Manager
The product manager also is responsible for the marketing interface with the Sales Force and with the Territory Marketing Directors.
The product manager reports to the Country leader.
Key responsibilities
  • Leads the tiger team to ensure delivery the milestones of the projects approved under CPS, MEB or CB and excel on the quality and timing of the documents needed to drive the project through the launch and quick ramp up as Start Charts, Customer Market Analysis, Technical Assumptions & Issues, Network Project Plan and Product Launch Plan. The PM represents the Tiger Team on the Portfolio manager networks and on the execution of the resources approved.
  • Develop on annual basis marketing plans for the key products or crops aligned with the global strategies and ensure that they are deployed in the sales organization to deliver the strategies designed and the financial results planned.
  • Prepare the marketing campaigns by season to deploy the 4P marketing variables according with the marketing plan designed, aligned with the investment cycle of the molecule and assigned given sequential priority on the resources based on the investment categories: investment, growth, leverage or OPEX.
  • Prepare the annual plan and BVM horizon of his portfolio with clear assumptions and aligned with the plans designed to ensure the organization and the resources are aligned with them. Also, review monthly the 24 months forecast based on the assumptions defined and the key changes happening on them.
  • Identify portfolio opportunities as product gaps, product differentiation or formulations that can maximize the profitability long term extending as much is possible the life cycle of the molecule in profitable conditions. Be sure that ideas are populate on idea central.
  • Responsible for growing the business gaining market share and delivery of the financial results with an emphasis on the qualitative aspect of the business.
  • Protect the branding and the integrity of the products escalating the issues that impact our property and ensure that legal and the functions are taking the necessary actions to defend our company interests.
  • Ensure GMIDs are create on time, but also clean in annual basis the non-profitable ones to maximize the systems efficiency and driven profitability, involving the different owners of the process as supply, regulatory, manufacturing, EH&S, Branding, etc.
  • Address inventory targets and implement decisions in the territory to maximize them, managing the finish good inventory and as well reducing off grade materials and slowing moving inventory.
  • Ensure that competitive intelligence is capture and populate in the global system and also use this system to learn about the markets & competitor products to leverage situations happen in other geographies.
  • Conduct market research as needed to understand the customer needs and the ways to maximize our market share and profitability.




Min 5 years experience Sales/Technical/Marketing

Minimum Master’s Degree – Mixture of Ariculture/Marketing ideal
20 – 50% travel
Languages – English and Afrikaans
Excellent marketing knowledge & experience
Excellent understanding of the Crop Protection Market
Excellent leadership by influence
Understanding of Portfolio Navigator and MEB Tools; analytical capabilities and strategic thinker
Excellent written and verbal communication.
